TRAMS Shop: Souvenirs, books and parts

Canadian Car-Brill trolley coaches. The real thing.

We find ourselves oversupplied with trolley coaches in various conditions. Most are eminently restorable; others are parts buses.

Most of what we have available are the 1954 "2400" series but some others are also available

You must be able to demonstrate that you will be able to properly care for and, hopefully, restore, any coach you purchase from us.

This offer is primarily of interest to museums but others are welcome to apply for a coach - we have several available

"As is, where is"

Reasonable offers considered

Brill Trolleybus Destination Signs

Back before electronic displays, buses had "rollsigns" or "destination signs" to tell passengers where the bus was headed. The old Brills had hand-cranked signboxes and with about 50 displays, it could take a lot of work to scroll through the entire signbox. Signs were made of linen and later mylar.

We are able to offer you the entire side signbox mechanism complete with the sign displays. The side signboxes are more easily usable than the slightly larger front displays. You can reverse the signs, and mount the entire box on a wall to make a neat display. Or, (horrors) you can remove the signs, cut them into strips and use them as wallpaper. Yes, it has been done.

Our offering is of genuine signboxes removed from retired Brill trolleybuses that roamed the streets of Vancouver from 1948 to 1984. Own a piece of the past.

Availability SOLD OUT except for pre-ordered signs. If you have ordered a sign from us, it is available from the Downtown Historic Railway carbarn during operating days (summer weekends commencing May 10 2008: See Schedule here).

We may be able to supply additional signs in the future, as we are currently assessing our stock with a view to making a few more available.

Note: items are heavy. We cannot easily ship them. You must collect the sign in person.
